Literacy Agency (NALA) Press and Communications:
NALA's Public Relations and Communications section is involved in
informing the general public, the adult literacy profession, learners
and a diverse range of special interest groups about NALA's work and
issues related to adult literacy.
Adult
Literacy Action: This site provides in depth information and
resources for "Beginning a Literacy Program." Topics include:
assessing the need, program structure, building a program, money
matters, recruitment, promotion and training.
Benton
Foundation: According to the Benton Foundation, their mission is "to
articulate a public interest vision for the digital age and to
demonstrate the value of communications for solving social problems."
This site provides links to "tools
and resources to help your nonprofit build relationships with media
organizations to promote your cause and advance your mission." This
includes a step-by-step guide for working with the media, a media
toolkit and various tutorials to increase your media savvy.
Public and Media Relations: Written by
Carter McNamara, MBA, PhD. This e-article discusses basic
principles of public and media relations. It provides links to free
on-line training programs and other media resources.
Chevron - Profitable Public Relations for Non-Profits: This site
provides many resources such as outlines for public relations
planning, case studies and sample news releases, public service
advisories and publicity flyers.
